Raise your hand if you have a fear of public speaking. If you raised your hand, don't be afraid; you're not alone. I raised my hand too! According to the above video, we are part of the 70% who have a fear of public speaking. With my Relevant Presentation coming up, I know I will be nervous and stumble on a few words, but with the help of the above video, I can ease my way into a perfect presentation. From the video, I learned the Triple P Method: Prepare, Posture & Physicality, and Pander to Your Audience. To have an effective presentation, I am going to PREPARE, PREPARE, PREPARE. In doing so, I am going to review all the information I want my audience to know by going through each tab and writing down the highlights. Then I will review my highlights and put them in a sensible order, making sure I have a hook and closing sentence to grab the audience's attention and end on a memorable note. The next P is Posture & Physicality. For this P I am going to focus more on my posture, since I lack in this area. When presenting, no one will listen if you're slouching, crossing your arms, or leaning against a wall. To avoid this, I will maintain body language and an upright posture. The last P, Pander to Your Audience. To keep my audience's focus, I will look at my note cards if I am having trouble remembering the next highlight. By not reading off my note cards every highlight, the audience will know I am fully prepared to deliver a quality presentation. Even though my main focus is delivering my information, I don't want anyone to fall asleep on me, so I will throw in a few jokes. By following the Triple P Method, WE can conquer public speaking.
